Privacy Note & Technical Reality
Technical privacy depends on platform configuration, recipient choices, and device security. While end-to-end encryption protects messages while they travel across the network, it does not prevent someone on the receiving end from taking screenshots, forwarding photos, copying text, or recording audio.

Five Checks Before Your Child Starts
Run through these five practical steps together whenever your child downloads a new messaging app or creates a new profile.
1. Confirm Account Source and Accurate Age
Install only from official app stores. Enter accurate date-of-birth details so default platform teen protections apply. App-store ratings (such as 12+ or 17+) indicate content maturity, not the platform's legal or contractual minimum age.
2. Restrict Who Can Contact & Add to Groups
Adjust privacy settings so only known contacts or mutual friends can send direct messages or add the account to group chats without permission.
3. Check Profile Visibility and Live Location
Switch profiles to private where available. Ensure live location sharing, snap maps, and discoverability via phone number search are turned off by default.
4. Agree Boundaries on Unwanted Messages & Pressure
Agree beforehand that requests for secrecy, persistent unwanted contact, or pressure to share images are cues to pause and talk to an adult without fear of punishment.
5. Practice Blocking, Reporting, and Group Exits
Walk through how to block a contact, report offensive content, leave an overwhelming group quietly, and seek reassurance from a trusted adult.
The Ongoing Reality Check

What Can Be Copied?
